ST. CLAIR COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

State troopers say two people were killed in a vehicle accident Monday night along I-59 southbound in St. Clair County.

At least two vehicles were involved in the crash at the Double Bridges Road overpass near Steele. It happened around 7:15 p.m.

State troopers closed both southound lanes near mile marker 169 for several hours Monday night. Traffic was re-routed onto Highway 11 south at mile marker 172.

Troopers say that "due to fire" the identities of the victims will not be released until the coroner can make positive identification.
