ETOWAH COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

Etowah County authorities are still investigating the death of a man found burned inside an SUV in the Egypt community last week.

Investigators originally called the man's death "suspicious" but said on Tuesday they don't suspect foul play.

Firefighters responded to a woods fire on Pine Hill Trail in the Egypt community around 1 a.m. Thursday, March 27. They found a burning SUV on the scene and discovered a badly burned male body in the vehicle's passenger seat.

The man's identity is still unknown, according to the Etowah County Sheriff's Office.

"DNA testing and final results from the autopsy are incomplete," Natalie Barton, a spokesperson for the sheriff's office, said.

The person's death is still under investigation.
