HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A Huntsville church pastor said thieves caused hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of damage to his building.

Impact Ministries pastor Richards discovered someone cut the electricity to the church building and stripped it of all the copper wiring and brass pieces. Impact Ministries sits at the 4400 block of University Drive in Huntsville.

Richards said the thieves left ladders inside the building, climbed through the ceiling and left holes throughout the building. They vandalized all of the rooms, and destroyed all of the bathrooms. The pastor said they also stole his family's grand piano. Richards said he was in the process of selling the property. He said because of the extent of the damage he'll have to level the property because the building is no longer useable.

"This building was worth $1.2 million," said Richards "Now, I'll have to pay to have the building torn down and sell it just for the value of the property. That means I'll lose $400,000."

Huntsville Police investigators spent the morning looking into the thefts. Nobody is under arrest at this time. If you have information related to the crime, you are urged to contact the Huntsville Police Department.
