DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

A Decatur man was arrested and charged with drug crimes on Thursday after an officer responded to a sound control violation.

Over the past several months, Decatur police said their organized crime unit had been investigating an operation in which amounts of synthetic marijuana (spice) were purchased from Eric Jerome Brown, 22. Police said Brown sold spice on three different occasions.

On Thursday, an officer made contact with a vehicle at the Speed Z on Moulton Street West in response to a sound control violation. During the stop, the driver, identified as Brown, was found to be in possession of marijuana and spice.

Brown was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and marijuana, a sound control ordinance violation, tampering with physical evidence and traffic violations. The organized crime unit also brought three unlawful distribution of a controlled substance warrants against Brown.

Brown was booked into Decatur City Jail and will be transferred to Morgan County Jail on a $20,500 bond.
