KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

A shooter is still on the run after gunning down a man in Kansas City.

It happened near the victim's front door just after 1 p.m. at East Gregory Boulevard and Wayne Avenue near Forest Hill Cemetery.

When officers arrived, they found 20-year-old Alonzo Thomas IV dead by the front door of his home.

Witnesses reported seeing another man shoot Thomas in his front yard and run from the scene on foot.

A counselor who helps murder victims' families was at the scene and says she knows firsthand what its like to lose a child.

"I let them know that I am a mother that lost a child to homicide here in Kansas City, that I can help them with the police investigation, how long it takes for a search warrant," said Rosilyn Temple with KC Mothers in Charge. "As a mother losing a child to homicide you need someone is there saying, 'I know how you feel.'"

Anyone with information is urged to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
