AUBURN, AL (WTVM) -

The Auburn community has lost a beloved teacher and coach.

Auburn High School Assistant Principal and Assistant Football Coach Robert "Anthony" Jeter passed away Saturday morning on April 5 after suffering a heart attack while driving.

The Lee County Coroner says witnesses reported seeing Coach Jeter grabbing his chest while driving, causing him to run off the road. It appears Jeter had a heart attack, and was pronounced dead at the East Alabama Medical Center's Emergency Room.

Coroner Bill Harris says Jeter was 47 years old and had a history of heart issues.

His public visitation willbe Friday, April 11 from noon until 7 p.m. at Peterson and Williams FuneralHome in Opelika.

Jeter's funeral isscheduled for Saturday, April 12 at the Auburn High School gym at 2 p.m., withburial at a nearby cemetery.
