MONTGOMERY CO., AL (WSFA) -

Alabama State Troopers say U.S. Highway 231 is clear for traffic to move after two scenes were cleared Monday morning.

Authorities say the northbound lanes of U.S. Hwy. 231 South reopened after crews closed them to remove an overturned tanker that crashed near mile marker 167. That's approximately halfway between the 82 junction and Taylor Road.

The tanker was carrying a load of plastic pellets when it flipped and came to rest in a ditch on the northbound side of the road. The driver suffered minor injuries. An investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.

Also cleared was a large tree that fell, blocking both southbound lanes of 231 just south of the 82 junction.

The crash and fallen tree affected traffic for several hours as crews worked to clear both scenes.
