MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Wednesday morning Montgomery Fire/Rescue helped a man who couldn't get to his pets inside his flooded west Montgomery home.

The man wasn't able to get into his home on Hayneville Road after the Catoma Creek flooded it. Montgomery Fire/Rescue helped him get his medicine and reunited him with his dogs, Chico and Bullet, according to the Montgomery Department of Public Safety.

Divers also waded through water to check on a woman who was unable to leave her home.

Police officers set up barricades in the area as the rising water covered streets.

Lt. K.O. Jones with the Montgomery Fire Department said two boats and a dive team also worked to free and untie other trapped animals Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. A number of animals were rescued including dogs, hogs and a goat. The Montgomery Humane Society was on the scene.
