HARVEST, AL (WAFF) -

A Madison County student is headed to Washington to represent Alabama in the National Geographic Bee.

Christian Gonzalez of Harvest won the state-level geography bee, which was held at Samford University. He won $100 and gets an all-expense-paid trip to Washington for the national competition.

The national bee will be held at the National Geographic Society headquarters beginning May 19.
