CHAMBERS COUNTY, AL (WTVM) -

One man is dead and another is wounded after what Chambers County authorities are calling a murder/ attempted suicide that happened in Cusseta, Ala. on Tuesday night.

There are very limited details at this point, but Chambers County authorities tell us they responded to a call of a shooting last night around 7:30.

When they arrived to the home on the 2000 block of County Road 177, they found the body of 29-year-old Patrick Duffee and his stepfather Steve Sorrells suffering from a gunshot wound.

Sorrells was air lifted to the Midtown Medical Center in Columbus where he underwent surgery.

Authorities say if Sorrells does recover, there is no word on if or what charges he could be facing.

"It's too early to tell right now," said Major Mike Parrish with the Chambers County Sheriff's Department. "We're not sure if it was self-defense or what."

Authorities are in the process of interviewing a family member who was home at the time of the shooting and made the 911 call.

Right now Sorrells is listed in satisfactory condition.

There are still a lot of unanswered questions surrounding the death of Patrick Duffee. Authorities have not revealing a motive at this time.

The Chambers County Sheriff's Department is continuing to investigate, and we will keep you updated on the very latest.
