BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

The preliminary hearing for a man accused of killing a woman and storing her body in a plastic container has been continued.

Charles Samuel Jordan, 38, was supposed to have his preliminary hearing on Friday morning, but the hearing was continued until May 2 to give him enough time to hire an attorney.

Jordan is charged with the murder of 61-year-old Patricia McCain of Morris. Her body was discovered in a plastic container in an alley behind the Chateau Terrace condominiums in south Birmingham on Sunday morning.

Police haven't released a motive in the murder but said McCain and Jordan were acquaintances and drugs may have been involved.
