TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The Arizona House and Senate have just passed a joint resolution to support a January 8th memorial.

It simply says the legislature supports the memorial foundation's efforts to honor those killed and injured in the "Congress on Your Corner" event back in 2011.

Six people were killed and those injured include then Congresswoman Gabby Giffords.

The permanent memorial has already been approved to go in the historic Pima County Court House and part of El Presidio Park.

It's going to cost around $10million dollars - and the foundation hopes to raise that money and break ground at the beginning of next year.
