Millbrook police: Persons of interest identified in weekend shooting

MILLBROOK, AL (WSFA) -

Millbrook Police Chief P.K. Johnson says every effort is being made to identify those responsible for firing gunshots into the air near Millbrook's Memorial Center Park during a softball tournament Saturday night.

Johnson said Tuesday that persons of interest have been identified, and his department has conducted several interviews with people regarding this case. No one was injured in the incident.

"I am personally involved in this investigation and will be until we make an arrest of the person or persons responsible for shooting in a crowded area this past weekend," Johnson said in an email to WSFA 12 News. "We take the safety of our children very seriously, as such we will not tolerate this type behavior in our City."

Millbrook police said Monday that a teenager's birthday party was being held in the Memorial Center, and the investigation shows party organizers declined to allow an individual inside and that's when the gunshots started.
