Charleston Southern stuns South Carolina, 4-1

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

Gamecocks baseball won't make excuses, but playing without four regulars due to injury tonight against Charleston Southern definitely hurt.

South Carolina found themselves in an early hole at home, trailing 3-0 in the fifth.

The Buccaneers added to the lead as Chase Shelton lined a single to center and Andrew Widell trotted home from third.

Gamecocks try to rally back in the bottom half with a runner on third for Gene Cone, but pitcher Denis Buckley induced the harmless fly ball.

In the sixth, Grayson Greiner grounded into the double play and just avoided the triple play.

Carolina's offense was silenced as they fell 4-1 at home to Charleston Southern.
