Courthouse in Jasper 'all clear' after bomb threat

JASPER, AL (WBRC) -

The Walker County Courthouse in Jasper was given the all clear after a bomb threat on Thursday morning.

The threat came in around 8:45 a.m. According to Jasper Police Chief Connie Rowe, the threat was received at an office in the courthouse. The Walker County Sheriff's Office was notified and they responded immediately. Jasper police were called in to assist in clearing the area around the courthouse. Several businesses were evacuated and a nearby school was placed on lockdown.

Jasper's tactical team assisted deputies with bomb dogs in clearing the courthouse. No packages were located and the all-clear was given to repopulate the courthouse around 10:45 a.m.

The incident remains under investigation.
