The Tuscaloosa Homicide Unit says they have arrested one person after an incident where three people, including the suspect, received puncture and laceration wounds.
Tuscaloosa deputies responded on April 17 to the 4300 block of Virginia Drive on a stabbing report. At the scene, they found a 39-year-old female with lacerations to her hands and a puncture wound on her left side. They also made contact with a 39-year-old male who had received a large puncture wound to his right forearm. Both were transported to DCH for non-life threatening injuries.
Witnesses at the scene told deputies a 37-year-old female had stabbed the pair after a physical altercation. She was taken to the homicide office for further questioning. Investigators found the 39-year-old female had entered the 37-year-old female's home and had physically attacked her when asked to leave. The 37-year-old female had received a laceration under her eye from a broken beer bottle.
The 37-year-old female was released without incident. The 39-year-old female, identified by deputies as Chawanda Charles, was charged with 1st degree burglary and taken to the Tuscaloosa County Jail with a $30,000 bond. The 39-year-old male was injured when he attempted to stop the incident.
The case remains under investigation. Other parts of the incident will be presented to the Tuscaloosa County Grand Jury.
