DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

Independent power producer Calpine sold six power plants in the southeast, including one in Decatur.

The plants were sold to LS Power for $1.5 billion. Employees of the Decatur Energy Center will have the option to continue working at the plant under the new owner, or apply for other jobs at Calpine.

The Decatur plant uses natural gas to generate power for customers such as the Tennessee Valley Authority.
