SIERRA VISTA, AZ (CBS5/AP) -

Fire officials say a lightning-caused blaze that has scorched 553 acres on a large ranch in southeastern Arizona is 100 percent contained.

Cochise County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Carol Capas said crews mopped up the O'Donell Fire about three miles southeast of Elgin.

Fire officials say the blaze hasn't threatened any structures.

Lightning struck twice to ignite the blaze in O'Donell Canyon.

"When we got on scene, we actually had two fires, two separate fires that ended up growing together," said Sonoita-Elgin Fire District Battalion Chief Kevin Venos.

Venos said the active fire chewed through heavy sacaton on the Babacomari Ranch, halfway between Sonoita and Sierra Vista, but no buildings were ever at risk.

Firefighters said they were close to containing that fire when another storm blew in.

Venos said the fire doubled in size on Saturday evening when the wind shifted during a burnout operation in O'Donell Canyon.

"When the windshift occurred, that's when it really took off," Venos said.

A large wind ignited the private grasslands, and Venos said firefighters were on their heels needing some help.

That help came from air tankers and federal reinforcements.

Venos said the Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Forest Service, state Forestry Division and the fire district are on scene. Three air tankers and 100 personnel fought the fire.
