AUTAUGA CO., AL (WSFA) -

Dre Deramus will spend the next 19 years in prison after being sentenced for the December 20, 2012 Prattville murder of Lamarcus Ramsey.

Deramus was found guilty by a jury in December 2013 after prosecutors convinced them that he shot Ramsey in the head while the victim was sitting in his car in front of a package store.

Ramsey, who made headlines earlier in the year when he was sentenced to jail for having sagging pants in a courtroom, was a co-defendant with Deramus in several burglary and theft of property cases. He ultimately reached a plea agreement with the District Attorney's office.

Ramsey was shot to death just hours before Deramus was scheduled to be in court in relation to those cases.

Judge Ben Fuller handed down the multi-year prison sentence.
