EL MIRAGE, AZ (CBS5) -

A 7-year-old autistic child was removed from his El Mirage home after police said they found his parents' marijuana in plain view in the living room.

Officers said two pounds of marijuana was seized by detectives on Monday. Snort tubes and weighing scales were also found in the immediate area of the drugs, police said.

Matt Lincoln told police that he and his 29-year-old wife, Kimberly, smoke marijuana and explained that the white powder substance was crushed Xanax prescribed to him, according to a court document.

Police were called to the home after someone notified 911 the pair was yelling loudly outside their home and "disturbing the peace of the community," according to a probable cause statement.

Matt Lincoln alleged his wife smashed his truck window as he was trying to leave and then slashed the vehicle's tire with a kitchen cleaver, court paperwork said.

The pair told officers that they left their son unattended inside the home while they argued, the court document stated.

Police discovered Matt Lincoln had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant out of Surprise city court for failing to comply with a court order. Matt Lincoln was arrested on that warrant and turned over to Surprise police for processing and booking.

Kimberly Lincoln was booked into jail on a variety of charges, including disorderly conduct, criminal conduct, possession of marijuana and endangering the life and health of a minor.
