The Arizona Cardinals will open their 2014 regular season at home in a game on Monday, Sept. 8 against the San Diego Chargers.

The NFL released the schedule on Wednesday. The Cardinals will play three prime-time games for the first time since 2009. Two of them are at University of Phoenix Stadium.

The opener against the Chargers will be the second game of ESPN's Monday Night doubleheader on Sept. 8 at around 7:20 p.m.

The other two prime-time games will be played back-to-back: Thursday, Dec. 11 at St. Louis on NFL Network, and Dec. 21 at home against Seattle on NBC's Sunday Night Football. This marks the first time in franchise history that the Cards have night games on Sunday, Monday and Thursday nights.

The schedule includes eight games against teams that made the playoffs a year ago and four against 2013 division winners. Arizona will face both of last year's Super Bowl participants, Denver and Seattle, twice.

Two teams, the Chargers and Redskins, will be making their first-ever regular season visits to University of Phoenix Stadium while the Cardinals will be making their inaugural appearances at Dallas' AT&T Stadium and San Francisco's Levi's Stadium.

The Cardinals play just one divisional game in the season's first nine weeks (Week 3 against San Francisco) but close the regular season with three straight against the NFC West.

The preseason will begin Saturday, Aug. 9 with a game at home against the Houston Texans beginning at 5:30 p.m.
