Henrico restaurant has 3 critical, 24 non-critical violations

Posted: Updated:
HENRICO, VA (WWBT) -

In the Restaurant Report, we usually just tell you how many critical violations a restaurant had on its state health inspection. This time, we're showing you two restaurants that not only had critical violations, but high numbers of other problems, too.

In Henrico, the Indian Pastry House at 3409 Old Parham Road not only had 3 critical violations, it had a whopping 24 non-critical violations. Among them, the report says a used, disposable glove was found inside a container of tomato paste. We tried to reach the manager but never heard back. The report shows violations were corrected during the inspection.

Akida Japanese Restaurant at 814 North Robinson Street in Richmond had 8 critical violations, plus 12 non-critical. The inspector noted a container of raw shrimp was stored on the floor, and told them to throw out some food that wasn't kept cold enough. Again, we tried to contact the owner but didn't hear back. Akida also corrected violations during the inspection, according to the report.

The NBC12 Hall of Fame Award goes to Joe Muggs, a coffee shop inside Books-A-Million at 15701 Westchester Commons Main Street in Midlothian after acing three health inspections.

Said manager Bunnie Combs, "We just take extra good care. We take as good of care of our cafe as we do our customers."
