PALMER, MA (WSHM) -

The superintendent of Palmer's Department of Public Works was arraigned Thursday for allegedly driving drunk.

Craig Dolan, 63, was arrested Tuesday night after a police officer witnessed him driving erratically and crossing the yellow line on North Main Street, according to our media partner MassLive.

When police administered a sobriety test, Dolan reportedly had a blood alcohol content of 0.20, which is more than twice the legal limit of 0.08. Dolan was also charged with having an open alcohol container in his vehicle after police reportedly found an open bottle of gin.

Executive Assistant for the Town of Palmer Andrew M. Golas told MassLive that Dolan took a personal day Wednesday and that the town has not officially taken action on Dolan's employment status. Golas said he is waiting to hear back from labor counsel about the issue.

Dolan was hired in October 2011 and this is his second arrest for DUI. Dolan's first arrest occurred 20 years ago.
