Calera man charged with attempted murder, domestic violence

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

The Calera Police Chief says Calera police arrested a man on Tuesday night after responding to a shooting report.

Chief Sean Lemley says officers were called to the Savannah Point Subdivision around 11:30 p.m. after being told someone was shooting inside of a residence. The suspect allegedly fired a round at officers when they arrived, but surrendered shortly thereafter.

Derek Edward Kiley was charged with one count attempted murder and one count 3rd degree domestic violence. He is being held in the Shelby County Jail on no bond.

Police were not injured in the incident.
