PHOENIX (CBS5) -

A father and his 5-year-old son were rescued Thursday after getting lost on a trail on Camelback Mountain.

The man called 911 around 10 a.m. to report their predicament.

Once crews from the Phoenix Fire Department arrived in the area of 6200 East Cholla Lane and Camelback Mountain, they determined the best way to get the father and son to safety was a helicopter rescue.

News helicopter pictures showed the airlift was successful.

The conditions of the pair were not immediately known.
