OTTAWA, April 25, 2014 /CNW/ - Students and community members will participate in rallies and actions across the country on Saturday, April 26th to oppose the Unfair Elections Act.

The dangerous changes proposed by Bill C23 will impact how, and if some Canadians can vote, creating particular barriers for students, low income Canadians and seniors. Canadians have been consistent in their disagreement to this bill, and the opposition is growing.

The Canadian Federation of Students, the Council of Canadians, and various community groups are joining forces to organize a National Day of Action to stop the Unfair Elections Act on April 26th, 2014.

Rallies are planned in major cities across the country, including Vancouver, Calgary, Hamilton, Toronto, Montreal, Halifax and more. Full event details are posted at www.letpeoplevote.ca.

The Canadian Federation of Students is Canada's largest student organisation, uniting more than one-half million students in all ten provinces. The Federation and its predecessor organisations have represented students in Canada since 1927.

Founded in 1985, the Council of Canadians is Canada's leading social action organization, mobilizing a network of 60 chapters across the country.
