MADISON, AL (WAFF) -

Around 12:30 a.m. Saturday, a motorcyclist reportedly blew past a deputy attending to a wreck, lost control and crashed.

Deputies said the motorcyclist was going around 100 mph when he sped past and lost control at the bend on Nance Road.

The deputy and emergency personnel who responded to the scene, however, said the rider disappeared. After about an hour and a half of searching, the motorcyclist still could not be found.

According to neighbors, wrecks repeatedly happen at the sharp curve on Pettus Road. After emergency crews left the scene, Pat Kerce woke up and began mowing his friend's lawn when he stumbled upon what was left of the crash: a deep rut in the ground and leftover debris.

"We do have children and so forth, and it kind of perturbs me when they exceed the speed limit," said Kerce.
