HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

The Madison County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene of a bomb scare Saturday night.

They said it was in the area of Memorial Parkway and Hobbs Island. They advised to avoid the area if possible and closed down the roads. They were reopened around 8:50 p.m.

According to deputies, an employee of the O Boy Fireworks Stand found an object in a metal box behind the mobile home of John Raleigh Wilson. They said it appeared to be a pipe bomb.

The Huntsville Bomb Squad responded to the scene and evacuated the area. They didn't know what the object was, so they detonated it.

This comes a week after another incident in the area where the same lanes were closed down due to a standoff. Wilson was arrested after the standoff and is still in jail without bond.
