HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
A few showers are tracking northeast into the Tennessee
Valley. A quick shot of some wet weather, maybe a rumble of thunder, is
possible over the next few hours on Sunday. No severe weather is expected with this.
The forecast remains on track for multiple rounds of stormy
weather, potentially severe, Monday and Tuesday. The Storm Prediction Center
has upgraded much of the Valley into a ‘moderate' risk for Monday.
Round #1 will come late Sunday/early Monday morning from a
line of weakening storms to our west. They could still be strong to severe with
damaging winds and hail as they enter our area.
Round #2 will come Monday afternoon and continue into the
night/overnight. These storms will present all modes of severe weather with
damaging winds, tornadoes, and hail possible. In addition to the severe threat,
very heavy rain could lead to flooding late Monday into Tuesday.
Round #3 is very dependent on how the atmosphere can recover
after Round #2 but the threat for severe weather still exists Tuesday afternoon
Take some time today, if you haven't already, and review
your severe weather safety plan, put fresh batteries in your weather radio, and
download the WAFF weather app. That app will push alerts to your phone (use as
a secondary alert) and you can stream coverage from your safe spot or if your
power is out. We will be streaming coverage almost around the clock if bad
weather presents itself.
Stay tuned as we continue to bring you additional details.
