FAIRFIELD, AL (WBRC) -

Fairfield police have arrested a man in connection to the death of a Pinson woman.

Kenneth Childers, 27, of Birmingham has been charged with abuse of a corpse. He is currently being held at the Jefferson County Jail.

Childers is charged in connection to the death of Megan Elizabeth Monroe, 22, of Pinson. Monroe's burned body was discovered behind a vacant home in Fairfield April 19. Her death is being investigated as a homicide.

Police Chief Leon Davis, Jr. says that during the execution of a search warrant in the case, a second male has been taken into custody. Davis says the man has not been charged at this time but "we anticipate charging him as well."

Monroe's mother, Michelle Monroe Stewart, says she saw her daughter for the last time April 17. She says she tried not to worry because Monroe is an adult, but when Easter arrived she knew something was wrong.

Additional charges may be filed after investigators review the coroner's report.
