FAIRFIELD, AL (WBRC) -

Fairfield Police are on the scene of a shooting at Western Hills Mall.

Chief Leon Davis, Jr. says that one man shot another man in a confrontation inside the mall near the Foot Locker.

"We responded to a call shots fired at Foot Locker. We did find a male who have been shot. I don't know know how many times he had been shot but he had been shot. We were able to stop a suspect and take him into custody," Davis said.

The victim has serious injuries and has been transported to the hospital.

The shooting shocked those who regularly come to the mall.

"As I entered the mall I heard the gunshots. The guy just ran past me with a gun in hand and almost knocked me over. Then five kids ran to me and said their dad had been shot," Tyeis Irwin said.

Witnesses tell FOX6 News the men got into an altercation at the store. One man left and allegedly returned with a gun.

"By the time I got around the corner I hear three shots. When I head the three shots I see everybody run out of the Kids Footlocker. My girl comes up to me and pointed that is who just shot him," Valdez Jackson.

Davis said the men may have had a previous disagreement. He called the shooting "targeted."
