Several locations in the Shoals are accepting donations for Limestone County tornado relief efforts.
You can drop off donations of clothes and non-perishable food items at any of the following locations:
First Baptist Church of Lexington
First Baptist Church of Center Star
Highland Baptist Church, Florence
Cross Brand Cowboy Church on County Road 33, Killen
Kay's Bookstore, Rogersville (at the 4-way stop)
Rick's BBQ, Shoals Creek Location in Killen (through Saturday starting at noon)
Stuff-The Truck- on Saturday at Krispy Kreme, Florence on Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Two people were killed at the Billy and Barb Trailer Court in Limestone County.
After surveying the damage in Limestone County, the National Weather Service confirmed at least an EF-3 tornado with winds of 136 to 165 MPH hit the area of Bay Hill Marina. The marina sustained significant damage.
The Clements Fire Department and Clements High School were also damaged by the storm.
Emergency managers say at least 240 homes were damaged or destroyed by the tornadoes and strong storms that swept through Alabama.
The latest update from the Alabama Emergency Management Agency says damage is being reported in 31 of Alabama's 67 counties. Three people died.
The state says about 244 residences were hit, but the number will rise because reports are still coming in. No numbers are in yet for hard-hit Limestone County, for example.
