WHITEHOUSE, TX (KLTV) -
Willie Nelson fans rejoice. Now you can take a leaf out of Nelson's book and tour the country in his old bus.
Alen Moffitt said the 1983 Eagle tour bus was purchased by a man in Whitehouse from a private seller in Alabama. Moffitt posted the advertisement on Craigslist for the owner, who buys cars and other vehicles as a hobby. The online listing, which was posted on Sunday afternoon, quickly got out of hand, with calls coming from across the world. Moffitt said he had received over 25 calls on Friday alone.
The bus, which was built for Nelson in the 80s, sleeps eight or more people. It's a gas hog, though - the 92 Detroit Diesel engine gets 7 mpg with the 15 kW diesel generator running. It has four air conditioning units on the roof and Moffitt says the bus is in great working condition.
Moffitt said many people have asked him if the bus smells like marijuana. He said that the owner fixed the bus up and repaired the inside, steam cleaning the fabric so the interior smells fresh and clean.
Bidding for the bus is up to $65,000 as of 1:53 p.m. on Friday afternoon. You can make an offer until midnight on Saturday by calling or texting (903) 262-4950.
