TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A week after Tomas Tovar was shot and killed, his friends and family continue to push for answers in the same parking lot where he died.

Loved ones organized a vigil Saturday night, but the dozens of people did not leave the area as soon as it ended. Instead, they asked anyone coming and going from the parking lot near Irvington and Campbell if they were in the area last Saturday.

"This is more than a memorial," said Tomas' sister Melissa Salazar.

Tomas' family members said they're reclaiming the parking lot after such a violent crime. His mother, Tovar Salazar said they will do whatever it takes to make sure such a crime like this doesn't happen again.

"It's not fair," she said. "You deserve to live no matter who you are."

Tovar was shot just before 10 p.m. Saturday April 26, according to police. A reward up to $1,000 will go to the person whose tip leads to an arrest in this unsolved murder.

Detectives are searching for a Dodge Magnum believed to be in the parking lot at the time of the crime. Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or 88-Crime.
