KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

A grim discovery in the Missouri River after troopers found a man's body west of the Interstate 435 bridge.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the body was recovered about 10 a.m. Saturday near Richard L. Berkley Riverfront Park.

Sgt. Collin Stosberg of the patrol said witnesses reported a man jumping from the Heart of America bridge April 9, but it is unclear whether that is related.

Authorities said they have been searching for the man that jumped from the bridge almost every day since then.

The Jackson County Medical Examiner is working to identify the body.
