ATHENS, AL (WAFF) -

American Red Cross volunteers will open an reach center in Athens on Sunday to help disaster victims in Limestone County.

The Red Cross said the center will be located at Friendship United Methodist Church at 16479 Lucas Ferry Road in Athens, just off of Highway 72. Tornado victims can meet with volunteers and gain assistance and support needed for recovery.

The center will be open on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the rest of the week. The Red Cross has not confirmed the schedule beyond that.

Following the disastrous storms last week, Red Cross volunteers provided meals to those in the shelter as well as water and snacks to those cleaning up. Clean-up and comfort kits were given out, as well as bulk items such as water.

Anyone who wishes to make a donation to American Red Cross Disaster Relief to help those affected by disasters like tornadoes can visit http://www.redcross.org, call 1-800-RED CROSS or text REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
