MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Madison County deputies are looking for those responsible for stealing an ATM from a convenience store on Monday.

Deputies said around 1:45 a.m., someone driving by saw people inside the Stop & Save on Highway 53, just north of Jeff Road, and called the sheriff's department. When deputies arrived, they said the ATM was gone, possibly along with other items.

Deputies said the thieves also cut the store's phone lines. They believe the group may have left in a truck.

The store clerk said they don't have surveillance video because the thieves also took the DVD recording system. He also said they disabled the alarm and must have managed to pick the lock, because no glass was broken and there were no obvious entry points.
