ATLANTA, GA. (WSFA) -

The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta is ordering the personal attorney of Tuskegee Mayor Johnny Ford to reimburse the Alabama Attorney General's office for costs incurred in what the court has rule was a frivolous lawsuit.

Attorney General Luther Strange's office filed the motion in January 2014 for payment of attorney's fees equaling $9,798 in a now dismissed lawsuit filed by Ford.

In the appeals court's motion, it said Ford's attorney, Donald LaRoche, should have known the claims being filed were frivolous and that Attorney General Strange was entitled to an award for attorney's fees and other expenses related to the case.

Ford and others filed a lawsuit claiming that the voting rights of the citizens of Macon County were violated following the raid and closure of the electronic gaming facility at Victoryland.
