PRATTVILLE, AL (WSFA) -
The City of Prattville Wednesday morning made a big announcement that city residents will benefit from. Mayor Bill Gillespie spoke with WSFA 12 News Today in Alabama reporter Melissa Johnson during a new segment called "Hometown Spotlight".
The mayor says the city is planning to demolish the old Gloria Plant and will replace it with new biking and hiking trails and neighborhood improvements.
Mayor Gillespie says the plans are "all about a family
togetherness." and adds that the landscape of the near the plant should
completely change over the next couple of years.
Demolition starts later this week.
Following the demolition of the old plant, the city will reactivate the
Trails Committee to begin planning for the biking and hiking trails. Next,
grants will be established to improve the nearby neighborhoods. The
city also plans to get some citizen input on the project.
Prattville's announcement is the beginning of Melissa's new series called "Hometown Spotlight" where each week WSFA 12 News will spotlight a different city or town in our viewing area.
