BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

School officials say Vance Elementary School will be closing early on Wednesday due to a gas leak.

All students are safe and have been moved to the gym on the other side of the school, but parents are urged to pick up their children as soon as possible.

At 11:30 a.m., remaining students will be bused to Brookwood High School, where they can be picked up by parents or guardians.

School officials say the leak is in the cafeteria area, but has not yet been located. Alabama Gas is on the scene.
