HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Verizon Wireless hosted a career open house Thursday. The open house comes just days after Verizon announced it will add more jobs across the state with the majority of those being in Huntsville.

The event is meant to give the public a chance to learn more about available positions, interact with hiring managers, and get a tour of the facility.

On Tuesday Verizon announced it intends to hire more than 400 full time workers in Alabama in 2014. According to Governor Robert Bentley, more than 300 of those positions will be customer service positions at the Huntsville call center. The remaining positions will be in stores.

Customer service reps "handle a high volume of customer service calls from around the country, anything from an equipment upgrade, a customer wanting to get a new phone, a billing question, or any question a customer could have about their Verizon account," said job fair director Kerry Wendell.

People interested in applying for these positions can still apply online at the Verizon jobs site. The job number to look for is 350080.
