AUBURN, AL (WSFA) -

The Auburn Police Department is now confirming that the a body found in an abandoned vehicle in Georgia is being positively identified as that of missing 25-year-old Tyshunn Raheem McCray.

Auburn police were contacted Wednesday by Clayton County, GA police after a maroon 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix was found abandoned in an isolated area of the county.

Investigators in Clayton County said the body of McCray was found inside the trunk. The vehicle was left in the parking lot of an abandoned shopping center along Mundys Mill Road.

The cause of death has yet to be released.

McCray's family reported him missing on Friday, May 2. He was last seen alive in the 300 block of Williams Ave. in Auburn on the evening of May 1.

The Auburn Police Division is continuing to assist the Clayton County Police Department and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and encourages anyone with information on the case to call the detective section at 334-501-3140 or the anonymous tip line at 334-246-1391.
