PAINT ROCK, AL (WAFF) -

A Jackson County school secretary has been terminated from her position after a due-process hearing on Wednesday.

Paint Rock school secretary Lori Mullican is now without a job after being terminated by the school board. The board had previously held a due-process hearing but recessed it.

After the recess, Mullican's attorneys filed a restraining order in court, after which both parties agreed to continue the due-process hearing.

That ended Wednesday night, with the board voting to follow the superintendent's recommendation to terminate Mullican.

What she did wrong remains unclear.

"All I can tell you is it was termination for cause. Beyond that, I don't know that I'm at liberty to go into much more detail than that," said Superintendent Kenneth Harding.

Attorney Stan McDonald said they will take their appeal to a Department of Education hearing officer, which is expected to take place within 60 days.
