LAUDERDALE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Firefighters responded to a semi truck wreck in Lauderdale County early Saturday morning.

Killen and Center Star firefighters responded to a wreck that happened at Highway 72 and Elm Drive around 5 a.m. Firefighters said a semi truck carrying mulch, manure and potting soil had rolled over. Emergency crews had to extricate the driver.

Authorities said rescue crews initially called for a medical helicopter from Air Evac, Huntsville and Vanderbilt, but all three air ambulances couldn't respond due to the weather. The driver was therefore taken to ECM Hospital.

Highway 72 was closed for two hours and traffic was diverted. EMA was notified for cleanup.
