The Oakville Indian Mounds Educational Center in Danville will hold its 27th Annual Multicultural Indian Event on May 15-17.

This event is free to the general public, although there is a $2 parking donation. No pets are allowed.

Thursday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. is reserved for registered students in pre-kindergarten through fourth grade groups. Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. is reserved for registered students in fifth through eighth grade groups and is open to the general public from 3-5 p.m. Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. is open to the general public.

Prehistoric and historic living history encampments, including Creek, Cherokee, Early Settler and Civil War, will be set up, and concessions will be available, offering Indian tacos, Indian fry bread, roasted corn and much more.

There will multiple vendors and crafts available, including beadwork, blacksmithing, flint knapping, art work, musical instruments, traditional tool and weapon demonstrations, wood carving, traditional pottery and more. Children can participate in free arts and crafts as well.

This event will feature traditional Native American dancing, Native American and bluegrass music, Cherokee language demonstrations, $1 wagon rides, canoe rides and face-painting.
