GREENVILLE, AL (WSFA) -
The Greenville Police Department confirms that an arrest has been made in connection to the homicide that happened over the weekend.
Police Chief Lonzo Ingram says his office got a tip and enlisted the services of the U.S. Marshals. Marlon Herbert, 33, was captured in Atlanta.
Russell Gregory, 31, was shot and killed as a result of a disturbance at the Front Street Pub on Commerce Street. Police say that the shooting happened around 1 a.m.
Herbert was developed as a suspect after authorities talked to witnesses at the crime scene.
Witnesses told police an argument started inside the pub and eventually moved outside to the front of the pub.
Herbert reportedly was trying to leave the establishment when the victim allegedly reached inside the car in an attempt to pull Herbert out. That is when witnesses say that the victim was shot in the head.
Police are still investigating the case, which is the city's first homicide of 2014.
