NARBERTH, Pa., May 13, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The GBS|CIDP Foundation International has announced a competition for the first Benson Clinical Research Fellowship. The Fellowship will provide funds (up to $150k per year for three years) to enable clinicians or non-clinical scientists in training, or having recently completed training, to engage in a substantial research project in the field of inflammatory neuropathy at a Center or Centers of Excellence.

GBS/CIDP Foundation International announces the establishment of the Benson Fellowship to fund Peripheral Inflammatory Neuropathy Fellowships.

Preference will be given to candidates who intend to pursue a long-term career in this field. Applicants should obtain application forms from Camille Yee at Camille.Yee@gbs-cidp.org. Completed forms should be submitted by email to Camille Yee at Camille.Yee@gbs-cidp.org by midnight EST Friday, June 20, 2014.

Short-listed candidates may be required to make a presentation at the 13th International Symposium of the GBS|CIDP Foundation International Friday, October 31, 2014Sunday, November 2, 2014, at Walt Disney World, Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

Guillain-Barre' Syndrome (GBS), Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP), and Multifocal Motor Neuropathy (MMN) are extremely rare peripheral inflammatory neuropathy disorders. These disorders can be life threatening or permanently disabling, so anyone who has one of these disorders needs to get the right diagnosis and the right treatment, right away.
