BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

Four people were transported to the hospital after a MAX bus and car wrecked in downtown Birmingham.

The crash happened Tuesday morning on 1st Avenue North and 17th Street North in front of Birmingham Police Headquarters.

According to officials on the scene, a white Mercedes ran a red light and hit the city bus. There were 10 passengers on board the bus. Three bus riders and the driver of the Mercedes were taken to the hospital.

None of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening.
