AUBURN, AL (WTVM) -

On Monday, May 12, 2014 the Auburn Police Division arrested a 16-year-old male juvenile from Auburn and charged him with third degree burglary and third degree theft of property.

At approximately 4 a.m. Monday morning police responded to a call of a possible burglary in progress in the area of the 1900 block of Longview Court and Veterans Boulevard.  Officers were informed that a suspicious male was observed carrying a television and pushing a bicycle in the area.

When officers arrived they conducted a preliminary investigation and discovered that entry had been made into a residence in the 1900 block of Longview Court.  Further investigation by police revealed that a flat screen television and a Mongoose bicycle with a total value of $550 had been stolen from the residence.

Auburn Police Officers with the assistance of a Lee County Sheriff's Department K-9 Officer conducted a search of the immediate area, which subsequently lead them to a residence in the vicinity, where officers located the juvenile in possession of the stolen bicycle and television.  The juvenile was arrested and the victim's stolen property was recovered.

The juvenile was transported to the Lee County Youth Detention Center where he is awaiting a detention hearing.
