BIBB COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

The branch manager of a bank in Bibb County has been arrested on theft-related charges.

John Kevin Vann, the area president of Trustmark National Bank and branch manager for the Trustmark Bank in Centreville, was arrested at the bank on Monday, according to Bibb County District Attorney Michael Jackson.

Vann was charged with identity theft, possession of a forged instrument and theft of property.

Jackson said the  investigation began after a successful Tuscaloosa businessman was notified about a loan in his name at the Centreville branch bank. The victim did not have any knowledge of the loan and reported it to authorities.

A joint investigation by Tuscaloosa and Centreville police departments led to Vann's arrest. The investigation is ongoing and the bank's corporate security department is fully cooperating, Jackson said.

The findings will be presented to the Bibb County District Attorney's office in the coming months.

"We are cooperating fully with the law enforcement agencies in this ongoing investigation and are not able to make any further comments at this time," Edward Livingston, regional president for the bank, said in a statement.

Livingston would not comment on whether or not Vann is still employed by the bank.

Vann was booked into the Bibb County jail in Brent, but bonded out, according to a spokesman with the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.
